A hot & cold air conditioner does not heat the way a room heater does, and the difference is worth understanding because it is the whole argument for buying one. A conventional heater turns electricity into heat directly through an element, so one unit of electricity gives you one unit of heat, and that is the ceiling. A heat pump does something cleverer: it reverses the refrigeration cycle and moves heat from the outside air into your room. Even cold air contains heat energy, and the machine's job is to collect and concentrate it rather than to create it. Because it is transporting heat instead of generating it, a heat pump can deliver considerably more heat than the electricity it consumes — which is why it costs less to run than a blower or a rod heater doing the same job. It also warms the room evenly through the same swing and airflow the AC uses for cooling, rather than roasting whoever sits nearest.
The honest limitation — and the question to ask us
The one thing to understand about any heat pump is that its heating output falls as the outdoor temperature falls. It works by extracting heat from the outside air, so the colder that air gets, the less there is to extract and the harder the machine works for it. Every heat pump therefore has a minimum outdoor temperature below which heating performance drops off or stops. In most of Delhi NCR that is rarely a problem — winter nights are cold but not severe, and a heat pump handles them comfortably. But the specification supplied for this model does not state that minimum temperature, nor the heating capacity in watts. So the honest position is this: for typical Delhi winters this should serve you well, and if you want certainty before spending sixty thousand rupees, ring us and we will get the heating figures from Daikin in writing. We would rather do that than have you find out in January.
Dew Clean matters more on a machine that runs all year
On a cooling-only AC the indoor coil sits idle for four or five months and collects dust; on a hot & cold unit it is working almost continuously, which changes the maintenance picture. Condensation forms on that coil every time the machine cools, dust sticks to the wet surface, and over time it becomes a damp layer of grime — the actual source of the musty smell people notice when an AC is switched on after a break. It also insulates the coil, so both cooling and heating drop off and the machine works harder for the same result. Dew Clean uses the unit's own condensation to wash that coil and then dries it, automatically. It does not replace an annual professional service, and filters still need washing — but on an appliance you will be running in both July and January, keeping the coil clean between services is worth considerably more than it is on a seasonal machine.

The case is strongest if you currently run room heaters in winter. One machine replaces two appliances, one wall position, no storing a heater for eight months. If you never heat the room, a cooling-only model at the same capacity will cost you less.
