Here's what actually goes wrong with coolers in this city, and almost no listing mentions it. The pump sits permanently submerged in whatever water you fill the tank with — and Delhi's water is hard. Minerals deposit inside the pump and along the feed tubes, flow drops, then stops. The pads dry out and the cooler becomes an expensive fan, usually somewhere in its second summer. An evaporative cooler is not an air conditioner, and this is where expectations go wrong.
