Two components decide whether an air conditioner is a ten-year purchase or a five-year one, and this machine covers both. The compressor is the expensive heart of the system — when it fails outside warranty on a domestic split, the repair bill is high enough that many people simply replace the machine. The PCB, the control board, is the quieter risk: on an inverter AC it's a costly part, and it is the component most brands cover least. A fixed 1.5-ton AC runs at 1.5 ton whether there's one person at a desk or six people at dinner. Convertible cooling lets you dial the machine down — run reduced capacity through a mild September afternoon when it's just you, and step up to full tonnage when the room fills or the day turns brutal. At lower capacity the compressor draws less, runs quieter, and cycles less hard, which across a full season is a real saving. 1.5 ton — get the sizing right or none of the rest matters
This is the most common and most expensive mistake in buying an AC. 1.5 ton suits a room of roughly 150 sq ft — a standard master bedroom, a compact living room, a decent-sized office cabin. Undersize it and the machine runs flat out all day, never quite reaching temperature, costing more electricity than the larger unit would have. Oversize it and it short-cycles — cooling fast, cutting off, restarting — which is inefficient and leaves the room cold but clammy, because it never runs long enough to pull moisture out of the air. Copper is the specification to insist on in Delhi: better heat transfer, far slower corrosion than aluminium, and — the part that matters when something goes wrong — a copper leak can be brazed on site, while an aluminium coil usually means replacing the whole thing.
The compressor varies its speed instead of switching fully on and off — steadier room temperature, less noise, and a lower draw once the room is cool.
