Neo Swing compressor — where the efficiency and the quiet both come from
A conventional reciprocating compressor works by pushing a piston up and down, which means the mechanism stops, reverses and starts again on every stroke. That reversal is where friction, vibration and noise are generated, and where energy is lost as heat instead of going into cooling. Daikin's swing design compresses refrigerant with a continuous rotating motion instead, so there is no stop-start and far less metal-on-metal contact. The result is three things at once: lower losses, which is part of why the ISEER is what it is; less vibration and noise, which you hear at night; and less wear, which is why the compressor carries a ten-year warranty.
