Roots
firstwhy straight hair looks flat
The commonest complaint about straightened hair has nothing to do with how straight it is. It's that it goes flat — the crown loses all its lift, the head looks smaller, and the whole thing reads as pressed rather than styled. That happens at the roots, and it happens because of how people dry them. Hair dries in whatever direction you leave it lying, and roots that have been flattened against the scalp while damp will stay flattened once dry, no matter what you do to the lengths afterwards. By the time you reach for a straightener the volume is already gone. The Lock feature on this machine is specifically for pre-drying the roots before you style the lengths — drying them lifted rather than pressed, so the crown keeps its body. You then straighten the lengths as normal. The result is straight hair that still has shape at the top, which is the difference between looking styled and looking ironed. Do the roots first. It takes an extra minute and it's the step that decides the whole look.
"Suitable for all hair types" — the honest reading
Dyson describes this as suitable for all hair types, and that's a fair claim in the sense that it will work on any hair. But it is worth being clear about what "work" means at different ends of the range, because expectations are where the disappointment lives. On fine, wavy or moderately frizz-prone hair, this tool is genuinely excellent — the airflow smooths and aligns without pressing, and it holds volume better than any flat iron will. On very thick, coarse or tightly curled hair, it will smooth and straighten, but it may take more passes than a plate iron would, and it may not deliver the same poker-straight, glass-flat finish some people are specifically after. That's the physics of tension versus clamping, not a fault. If you want smooth, soft, natural straightness with body, this is the better tool. If you want your hair completely flat, plates still do that more forcefully — and we'd rather say so before you spend ₹34,892.
Ceramic Pink and Rose Gold — the third choice, and the softest
All three Airstrait colourways cost effectively the same here, so this is purely about what you want in your hand every morning. Ceramic Pink with Rose Gold is the gentlest of the three — a soft, chalky, matte pink against warm rose metal, which reads far more subtle in person than "pink" suggests on a screen. It isn't a bright or girlish pink; it's closer to a pale clay. Our Prussian Blue is the bold option and our Bright Nickel is the neutral one. Two honest notes. A pale matte finish shows less fingerprinting than polished metal but will show cosmetic residue and product build-up more readily — a dry cloth handles it. And for gifting, this is the one people photograph. If you're buying it for someone rather than yourself, the pink and rose gold is the colourway that visibly says it was chosen rather than just bought.
🌡️ The settings
⚠️ The three wet settings are consistent across every listing we hold and are reliable. The dry and Boost arrangement differs between our three colour listings for the same machine — please have us confirm it before ordering if a specific temperature matters. Whatever the exact figures, start at the lowest setting that works rather than defaulting high out of flat-iron habit.
🎯 Right for
Best suited to people who want straight hair that still moves. If what you actually want is completely flat, poker-straight hair on thick or coarse texture, a plate iron does that more forcefully and we'll tell you so honestly rather than sell you the wrong tool.
Airflow stops after three seconds of stillness and restarts when you move. It protects you from the pause you didn't intend to take.
Hair keeps the shape it cools in. A couple of seconds of cold on each finished section is what stops the style softening by mid-morning.
Measuring the airflow temperature as it leaves the arms, so the setting holds whether you move quickly or slowly through a section.
Under a kilogram, balanced for a tool held at shoulder height and moved continuously through a full head of hair.

Statements regarding heat damage are Dyson's own product claims and, as qualified elsewhere in their material, refer to styling without hot plates and to protection from extreme heat damage when the appliance is used as directed; they are not a claim that no heat is applied to the hair. Suitability for all hair types is a manufacturer statement; hair condition and styling outcomes depend substantially on hair type, thickness, length, porosity, existing condition, chemical or colour treatment history, product use and technique, and no particular result is claimed or guaranteed. Very thick, coarse or tightly curled hair may require additional passes or may not achieve the same finish as a plate straightener. Guidance regarding root drying, volume retention and the setting of style during cooling is general styling information and not a manufacturer specification. This is a styling appliance and not a hair or scalp treatment; it makes no therapeutic claim. Persons with scalp conditions, or with recently coloured, chemically straightened, keratin-treated or otherwise chemically processed hair, should seek advice from a qualified stylist before use. Not for use on wigs, hair extensions or synthetic hair unless confirmed suitable by the supplier of those products. The appliance produces heated airflow which can cause burns: it must be kept away from skin, scalp, eyes and face, must never be used in a bath or shower or near water, must not be used with wet hands or on dripping wet hair, must be kept out of reach of children, must never be left running unattended, and must be allowed to cool completely before storage.
