- Time-of-Flight sensor measures distance between nozzle and scalp in real time — the same sensor technology in smartphone facial recognition, now in a hair dryer
- Target temperature of 55°C at the scalp surface — research-based optimal for thermal comfort and moisture retention without causing scalp heat stress
- When dryer is close to scalp, temperature automatically reduces. When further away for mid-lengths and ends, it increases safely — continuous dynamic adjustment throughout the drying session
- All 4 compatible attachments (Gentle Air, Styling Concentrator, Smoothing Nozzle, Flyaway Smoother) support Scalp Protect mode — the Diffuser is the only incompatible attachment

Air Multiplier™ — 3× airflow projection, smooth controlled drying
Dyson's Air Multiplier draws surrounding air into the motor housing and projects it with the motor airflow — amplifying the total output by 3 times. High-velocity, focused airflow dries faster than conventional dryers of equal wattage, with smoother, more even air projection that reduces the turbulence that causes frizzing during drying. The Hyperdymium motor generates the initial jet; Air Multiplier turns it into a powerful, controlled drying force.
Hall Sensor Attachment Learning — recognises each tool and remembers your preferences
A Hall sensor (magnetic field sensor) inside the dryer detects which attachment is fitted — each attachment has a unique magnetic signature. The dryer automatically switches to the optimised heat and speed profile for that tool, and over time learns your preferred settings per attachment. Your favourite Diffuser settings or Smoothing Nozzle temperature are stored and applied automatically — no manual adjustments each time you switch attachments mid-styling session.
