Description
This is a manual espresso machine — worth being clear about what that means
It uses a portafilter, which means you dose the ground coffee, tamp it yourself, lock the handle in and pull the shot — and you steam the milk yourself with the wand. That is exactly what people who love espresso want, because you control every variable. It is not a capsule machine and not a one-touch bean-to-cup: there is no grinder built in, so you will need pre-ground espresso coffee or a separate grinder. Expect the first week to be practice. If you would rather press one button and walk away, tell us and we will point you at a different machine instead.
A Portafilter, Not a Capsule.
You Pull the Shot Yourself.
A proper manual espresso machine for people who want to make the coffee, not just receive it · a 15 bar Italian pump and a portafilter, so you dose, tamp and extract exactly as you like · Thermoblock heating that comes up to temperature in a fraction of the time a boiler takes · a steam wand with adjustable frothing for cappuccino and latte you texture yourself · a pre-brew function that wets the grounds before extraction for a more even shot · automatic flow stop for repeatable volumes · a descaling alert — which matters in Delhi · a 1.8 litre removable tank, a cup warming plate and a two-tier drip tray · 2 year comprehensive warranty
15 bar,
and what
it doesthe physics of a good shot
Espresso is defined by pressure. Hot water is forced through a compacted bed of finely ground coffee at high pressure, which extracts the oils and dissolved solids that filter coffee leaves behind — and it is those oils, emulsified by the pressure, that form crema, the hazelnut-coloured layer on top of a good shot. Around 9 bar at the coffee is the accepted standard; pumps are rated at 15 bar because pressure is lost through the system, so a 15 bar pump delivers roughly the right pressure where it actually matters. What this means for you in practice is that the machine is capable — the rest is technique. Grind too coarse and water rushes through, giving a thin sour shot. Too fine and it chokes, giving a bitter one. Tamp evenly and firmly. Those three variables are what you adjust, and getting them right is the whole pleasure of a machine like this.
Thermoblock — why it heats in seconds rather than minutes
Traditional espresso machines heat a whole boiler of water and hold it hot, which takes several minutes from cold and keeps drawing power all day. A Thermoblock works the other way round: it is a heated metal block with a channel running through it, and water is heated as it passes through, on demand. The practical differences matter for a home machine. It is ready in a fraction of the time, so a single morning coffee does not mean waiting for a boiler. It uses less energy because there is no tank of water being kept hot for hours. And it switches between brewing and steaming quickly, since there is far less thermal mass to bring to a different temperature. One habit worth adopting: run a blank shot of water through the group head before your first coffee of the day, which warms the portafilter and cup so the espresso does not lose heat the moment it lands.
The steam wand — and how to actually get good foam
The frother is a manual steam wand, which means the texture of your milk is down to your technique rather than a button. That is worth a little practice, because the difference between properly textured milk and a mug of bubbles is entirely in how you use it. The short version: start with cold full-fat milk in a cold metal jug, purge the wand for a second before you start, then hold the tip just at the surface so it draws air in with a gentle hissing sound for the first few seconds — that is what creates the microfoam. Then sink the tip deeper and let it spin the milk until the jug is too hot to hold comfortably. Tap the jug on the counter and swirl before pouring. And the rule nobody follows but should: purge and wipe the wand immediately after every use. Milk that dries inside a steam wand blocks it and is very difficult to clear later.
Descaling in Delhi — the thing that decides whether this lasts
Delhi and NCR water is hard, and scale is the single commonest reason an espresso machine dies young. Every time water is heated, dissolved calcium and magnesium precipitate out and deposit inside the Thermoblock channel and the pipework. It builds slowly and invisibly: first the machine takes longer to heat, then the flow drops, then it blocks — and by that point the repair is usually not worth it. This machine has a descaling alert, so it will tell you when it is due, and you should act on it rather than postponing. Two things that help enormously. Use filtered or RO water in the tank rather than straight tap water — it is the cheapest possible insurance on a machine at this price. And empty the tank rather than leaving water standing in it for days. Use a proper descaling solution as the manual directs, and this will outlast several cheaper machines.
📦 In the box
No grinder and no tamper are included. Ask us about a grinder — freshly ground beans make more difference to the cup than anything else on this page, and a proper tamper is worth the small cost over the plastic scoop end.
🎯 Suited to
Needs 42 cm of counter depth and 45 cm of height clearance, plus room to swing the portafilter handle. Check the space under your overhead cabinets — and note this is specified for domestic use, not a commercial café setting.
Wets the grounds briefly before full pressure, so water passes through evenly instead of channelling — a noticeably more balanced shot.
Stops extraction at a set point, so your shots come out the same volume each time rather than depending on when you notice.
A cold cup pulls the heat straight out of a small espresso. Warming the cup first is a real difference, not a gimmick.
Adjusts for a small espresso cup or a tall latte glass, so the cup sits close under the spout either way.

Warranty as per Häfele terms and conditions — 2 years comprehensive warranty as stated in supplier material. The scope of cover, coverage of the pump, Thermoblock heating system, electronics and button controls, steam wand and frother, water tank, drip tray, portafilter and accessories, parts and labour, exclusions, product registration and the service process are subject to Häfele brand policy and the final invoice or warranty documentation. Damage arising from scale build-up, failure to descale as directed, use of unsuitable descaling agents, operation without water, use of unsuitable coffee or grind, commercial use or unauthorised servicing is commonly excluded; scale-related damage in particular is frequently treated as a maintenance failure rather than a warranty matter. A grinder and tamper are not included; portafilter diameter, basket sizes, whether the supplied brewing filters are pressurised or non-pressurised, heat-up time, brewing temperature, cord length and whether descaling solution is supplied are not stated in supplier material and should be confirmed before purchase. Pressure of 15 bar is the pump rating and is not the pressure at the coffee bed; pressure at extraction is lower and varies with grind, dose, tamp and machine condition. Power of 1450 W is the electrical input rating. Espresso quality, crema, shot volume and timing, milk foam texture, heat-up and recovery times and cup temperature depend substantially on coffee variety and freshness, grind size and consistency, dose, tamping, water quality and temperature, milk type and frothing technique, cup size and preheating, cleaning and descaling frequency and supply voltage; no particular result is claimed or guaranteed and the appliance requires practice to use well. Guidance on grinding, tamping, milk texturing, purging and descaling provided here is general information to aid understanding and is not a substitute for the manufacturer's user manual, which should be followed. This product is a domestic kitchen appliance and not a medical device; no health or nutritional outcome is claimed or implied. The appliance is specified for domestic use only and is not intended for continuous commercial service. It produces pressurised hot water and live steam capable of causing serious scalding: the steam wand, group head and portafilter reach high temperatures and remain hot after use, the portafilter must never be removed during extraction while the system is under pressure, steam must never be directed at any person, and children must be kept away. The appliance must not be operated without water, must be placed on a level, dry, heat-resistant surface with ventilation clearance, must be connected to a properly earthed socket, must never be immersed in water, and must be unplugged and allowed to cool before cleaning. The steam wand must be purged and wiped after every use. Descaling must be carried out with a proper descaling solution as directed in the manual and not with vinegar or improvised acids. Use of filtered or treated water is strongly recommended in hard water areas. Discontinue use if the cord or plug is damaged, if water leaks, or if steam escapes from anywhere other than the wand.
