Triple Laser — why three separate laser light sources produce fundamentally superior colour vs LED + quantum dot
LED projectors — including the MoGo 4's LED sibling — generate white light from a blue LED and convert portions of it to red and green through quantum dot or phosphor conversion layers. This conversion process produces red and green primaries that, while much better than older lamp-based projectors, remain limited in their colour purity by the conversion efficiency of the phosphor or quantum dot layer and the inherent bandwidth of the emission spectrum. Triple Laser projection uses three separate laser diodes — a dedicated red laser, a green laser, and a blue laser — each emitting light at a single, extremely precise wavelength (monochromatic emission). Because each primary colour is generated by a dedicated laser rather than converted from white light, the purity of the red, green, and blue primaries approaches the physical limit for those colour coordinates. The resulting colour triangle (gamut) covers 110% of BT.2020 — the ultra-wide colour space defined for professional cinema and broadcast, significantly larger than the 90% DCI-P3 cinema standard that LED projectors achieve. In practice, this means colours in HDR10 content that exist in the outer reaches of the BT.2020 colour space — the saturated sunset reds, deep ocean blues, and vivid foliage greens that are specifically encoded to the BT.2020 space in professional colour grading — are reproduced as the colourist intended rather than compressed to fit a narrower display gamut. Triple Laser also produces near-zero black levels (lasers can be turned off completely between frames, unlike LED which maintains a minimum backlighting floor), yielding the 1000:1 contrast ratio with genuinely deep blacks in dark content. At 550 ISO Lumens, the Laser model is 22% brighter than the LED MoGo 4 — meaningful for outdoor use in dusk conditions or rooms with residual ambient light where every lumen of headroom improves image visibility.

A proximity sensor in the MoGo 4 Laser detects hand movement within 30cm of the lens — a wave switches content, adjusts playback, or triggers other functions without requiring the remote control. For outdoor use — lying on a camping mat, sitting in a garden chair, hands occupied with food or a drink — the gesture sensor removes the need to locate the remote in the dark, on an uneven surface, or buried under a blanket.
