A 25-litre geyser heats 25 litres whether you need 25 litres or five — and through a Delhi summer you almost never need 25. That's the quiet waste in owning a larger tank: you pay to keep water hot that nobody draws. Smart Modes let you set the hot water requirement to match the actual use — a lower setting for a quick summer shower, full capacity for a winter morning with the whole family queuing. Combined with the BEE 5 Star rating, it means you get the capacity when it matters without carrying the running cost when it doesn't. It's the single feature that makes a 25-litre tank sensible year-round rather than only in winter.
Blue Diamond®, Incoloy and a 2× anode — three defences against Delhi's water
Geysers almost never fail from the outside. The tank corrodes from within, or the element scales up and burns out. AO Smith addresses both, plus a third line of defence. The Blue Diamond® glass lining is a fused barrier between hard water and the steel. The glass-coated Incoloy element resists the scale build-up that forces an element to run hotter until it fails. And the customised anode rod, rated for twice the lifespan of ordinary magnesium even in hard water, corrodes sacrificially so the tank doesn't. Those three are the entire durability story on any storage geyser — and they're why the tank carries seven years.
Why 25 litres — and how to know if you need it
Twenty-five litres is the size that removes the queue. A 15-litre tank covers a standard family bathroom, but empties and then takes time to reheat — so on a winter morning with everyone leaving at once, the second and third person get lukewarm water. 25 litres suits back-to-back showers, a larger bathroom, or a medium-to-large family. It isn't automatically better: a bigger tank costs more to buy and more to keep hot, which is exactly what Smart Modes offsets here. At 13 kg empty the unit is manageable — but a full 25-litre tank adds another 25 kg of water, so the wall and bracket must carry close to 40 kg in use.

The ABS outer body won't rust — worth noting in a bathroom, where a painted metal shell eventually shows corrosion around the fittings.

Anode rod replacement and periodic servicing may be required to maintain tank warranty validity. Heating time, hot water availability, Smart Modes behaviour, energy savings, corrosion resistance and component life vary with inlet water temperature, water hardness, water pressure, plumbing layout, voltage conditions, installation quality, usage pattern and maintenance. Installation must be carried out by a qualified technician with proper earthing, MCB and a correctly fitted pressure release valve; the mounting wall must support the full weight of a filled tank.
