Here is the whole case for paying more for 5 star, in one honest comparison. This machine is certified at 698 kWh a year. The 3-star model in the same Blue Star range is certified at about 898. That's a difference of roughly 200 units every year — and it repeats for as long as you own the machine, which on a Blue Star inverter with a 10-year compressor warranty is a long time. Whether it pays back depends entirely on how much you run it. PM2.5 filter — the feature specified for Delhi rather than for a climate
A PM2.5 filter is built into the indoor unit — not an accessory, not an upsell — so every hour the machine runs, it is also pulling fine particulate out of the room air. Two reasons it earns its place here. First, our worst air arrives in winter, not summer, and the unit can run in fan mode through those months, filtering without cooling — so the feature works in the season you'd otherwise have the AC switched off. Second, it operates on recirculated air in a closed room, which is the condition any filter performs best in. It is not a replacement for a dedicated air purifier and we won't claim otherwise — but on a machine you're buying anyway, it's genuine added value.
Ten years and five years — ask any rival what the board is covered for
Two components decide whether an AC lasts ten years or five. The compressor is the expensive heart of the machine. The PCB — the control board — is the part that fails quietly on an inverter, costs a great deal to replace, and is the component most brands cover least. When comparing two inverter ACs at similar money, that PCB number is the question worth asking — because an out-of-warranty board failure is very often what ends an otherwise healthy inverter machine.
