A HEPA filter can only catch things it can physically trap — and smoke, gases and smells aren't particles in that sense at all. They pass straight through particle filtration, which is why a purifier can clean the dust from a room and still leave it smelling of cigarettes or last night's fish. SmokeStop adds a layer of high-porosity activated coconut carbon that adsorbs them instead: VOCs off fresh paint, detergents and new furniture, traffic exhaust and smog, chemical fumes, cooking smells and cigarette smoke. Crucially the carbon carries no chemical additives — it works by physical structure alone, so nothing is being released back into the air you breathe.
HEPASilent™ — why a Blueair runs quieter than the rest
Conventional HEPA filters work by being dense: air is forced through a tightly packed mat, which is effective but demands a hard-working fan — and that means noise and electricity. Blueair's HEPASilent technology takes a different route, combining electrostatic and mechanical filtration so particles are given a charge and then attracted to the filter fibres rather than simply strained out. Because the filter itself can be far less restrictive, air passes through with much less resistance. The result is the combination that defines Blueair: high filtration efficiency, lower noise levels and reduced energy consumption together, rather than one traded against the others.
Genuine filters — and why the cheap copies cost more
Third-party filters are widely sold for Blueair units and they're tempting on price, but a purifier is a matched system: airflow, fan load and filtration are engineered around the exact filter it was designed for. A copy that fits physically can still restrict airflow, drop the effective clean air delivery, make the unit work harder and noisier, and shorten the fan's life. It can also invalidate your manufacturer warranty. Genuine Blueair filters are precision-engineered to hold the original performance, and on a machine that cost what a Blueair Classic costs, that's not the place to save a few hundred rupees.

🏠 Especially worth having if you have
If your purifier still leaves the room smelling of cooking or traffic despite running constantly, it isn't failing — it simply isn't fitted with a carbon layer. That's exactly what this set adds.
The filter fibres themselves resist bacterial and mould growth, so the filter doesn't become a problem of its own over six months of continuous use in humid conditions.
Blueair recommends replacement every six months for optimal performance. A calendar reminder on the day you fit them is the simplest way to keep the purifier working as it should.
Built from recyclable materials with a paper filter frame — cleaner air shouldn't come at the planet's expense. Check your local facilities for what they accept.
Three filters supplied, which is what a Classic 500 or 600 Series unit takes — so one purchase completes the job rather than leaving you short.
