Cooling gets a little weaker each week, and the household adapts — the setting goes lower, the unit runs longer, the bill climbs — and by the time someone calls a technician the compressor has spent months running under-charged, which is exactly what wears one out. This unit carries a built-in leakage detector with a safety cut-off: it identifies the leak and stops the machine rather than letting it keep running short of gas. Fixed speed — what it means, honestly
This is a non-inverter machine, and the difference is worth understanding before you buy. A fixed-speed compressor runs at full power or not at all: it cools hard until the room reaches temperature, switches off, lets the room warm, and starts again. An inverter varies its speed and holds the temperature steadily instead. Fixed speed costs less to buy, is mechanically simpler, and is perfectly sensible for a room used a few hours a day — a guest room, a room cooled only in peak weeks, or a space where the AC isn't running daily for months. Where it doesn't make sense is heavy daily use: if this will run six or eight hours a day all summer, ask us to compare the electricity cost against an inverter model before you decide.
