Cleanwhy old ACs smell
Everyone knows the smell — the first switch-on of the season, and the room fills with something faintly sour for ten minutes. That isn't dust. It's the indoor coil. An evaporator spends the whole summer cold and wet, condensation running over it constantly, and when the unit shuts off it's left damp in a warm, dark casing — which is exactly the condition mould and bacteria want. Fixed speed at 3 Star — where this genuinely fits
This is a non-inverter machine: the compressor runs at full power or not at all, cooling hard, cutting off, and starting again. The 3-star rating makes it the more efficient of the two fixed-speed Indus models, and fixed speed is mechanically simpler with fewer electronics to fail. Where it makes sense is moderate use — a room cooled for part of the day, a guest room, a shop or cabin used in business hours, or a household that runs the AC through peak weeks rather than all season. Where it doesn't is long daily running: if this AC will be on for eight hours a day through summer, ask us to put the running cost beside an inverter model before you decide. We'd rather sell you the right machine than the one with the better sticker.
