On an air purifier the machine is a one-time cost and the filters are the recurring one, so filter life is the specification that decides what you actually spend over five years. This unit's HEPA is 25 mm thick and rated for 8500 hours — thickness matters because a deeper filter holds more particulate before airflow drops, which is what extends the interval between replacements rather than just delaying the alert. Coway describes this as substantially longer than an ordinary filter, and it is the honest reason to look at this model over a cheaper one. Run the arithmetic before buying: ask us the filter price, divide by the life you'll realistically get, and compare that against the machine you're weighing it against. A cheaper purifier with thin, frequently-replaced filters costs more by year three.
Read the warranty structure carefully — it is not seven years of everything
Supplier material headlines this as a "7-year total warranty", and we would rather explain exactly what that adds up to than let you assume. It is 5 years on the motor, 1 year on electrical parts, and 2 further years on the motor if you register the product with Coway. So the long cover applies to the motor — the electrical and electronic parts carry one year. That is a perfectly reasonable structure, and five-to-seven years on a motor is a real commitment, but it is a different thing from seven years of comprehensive cover, and a customer who discovers the difference in year two is entitled to be annoyed. Register for the extended motor cover on the day it's installed, not later. Filters are consumables and are never covered by any warranty. Ask us to confirm the exact terms in writing before you buy.
Focus circulation — the feature that actually distinguishes this model
Most purifiers do one thing: draw air in and push it out in a fixed pattern. This one offers two. Normal circulation works the whole room; Focus circulation concentrates the airflow at a specific spot — the sofa where the family sits, the side of the bed, a desk, or the corner nearest the kitchen where cooking smoke drifts in. It matters because a purifier's rated coverage is measured in an open room, and real rooms have furniture, corners and doorways that break up circulation. Being able to aim the output at where people actually sit gets you cleaner air where it counts rather than an evenly mediocre average. Dual-direction airflow — forward or upward — does the same job vertically. Use Focus after cooking and Normal the rest of the time.
