The Gas Shuts Itself Off.
60 cm · 3 Brass Burners · FFD.

FFDthe feature to buy this for
A Flame Failure Device is a thermocouple that senses whether a flame is actually burning, and closes the gas valve within seconds if it isn't. The situations it exists for are ordinary ones, not dramatic ones: milk or dal boiling over and drowning the flame, a gust from an open window, a wet vessel base, someone knocking a knob open while cleaning. Without FFD, in every one of those cases the gas keeps flowing into the kitchen with nothing to burn it. That is how most domestic gas accumulations happen — not from a dramatic leak, but from a flame that went out quietly while nobody was in the room. On this hob every burner has it. If there are children, elderly parents or domestic help in the house, or if the kitchen is often left unattended mid-cook, this is the single specification worth paying for — and it is the reason to choose a hob like this over a cheaper one without it.
Built-in or hobtop — decide this before you order, not after
A built-in hob drops into a cut-out in your counter and sits flush; a hobtop stands on the counter like a conventional stove. This model can be installed either way, which is genuinely useful — it means you can buy it now for an existing kitchen and it still suits a modular counter later. But if you want the flush built-in look, someone has to cut your counter, and that is not something to discover on delivery day. Cutting granite or quartz is skilled work, it is chargeable separately, and once it's cut it cannot be undone — so the cut-out dimensions must come from Crompton's installation template, not from the hob's outer size. The unit is 600 × 525 mm with a 135 mm depth below the glass, so there must be clear space in the cabinet underneath and a gas point that reaches. Tell us your counter and we'll walk through it before you commit.
Cast iron supports and 8 mm glass — where the money actually went
Two specs here are quietly better than the category norm, and both matter for Indian cooking. Cast iron pan supports rather than pressed wire: a full pressure cooker or a heavy kadhai sits dead stable on cast iron, and it doesn't distort over years the way thin frames do. It also means you can slide a vessel across without the support skidding with it. And the glass is 8 mm, where most glass hobs use 6 mm — that extra thickness is margin against the everyday knocks a busy kitchen delivers. Toughened glass is still glass, though: it fails from impact and from thermal shock, so never set a heavy vessel down hard on it and never splash cold water onto hot glass. The brass burners will discolour with use — that's normal and not a defect.
🎯 Right for
Three burners in 60 cm is a compact layout. If you routinely run four vessels at once, ask us about a wider hob — and if you cook mostly in very large kadhais, check the burner spacing with us first, because three burners in this width sit closer together than in a 75 or 90 cm hob.
Flame spreads outward across the vessel base rather than concentrating in a ring, which is what stops the middle of a tawa cooking faster than the edge.
Turn and it lights. Keep a spare battery — when ignition stops sparking it's almost always the battery, not a fault.
Metal rather than plastic: they take heat, they don't discolour, and they give finer control at the simmer end.
Domestic manufacture, which is what makes spares and a service technician reachable when you need one.

Crompton HOB-SSFB603SP-MBU · SensoSafe Plus · 60 cm Built-In Hob · 3 × 3D Brass Burners · Flame Failure Device · Battery Auto Ignition · 8 mm Grey Toughened Glass · Cast Iron Pan Supports · Metal Knobs · Built-In Or Hobtop · Made In India · 2-Year Comprehensive Warranty
Warranty as per Crompton's terms and conditions — 2 years comprehensive; the scope of cover, treatment of the glass top, burners, pan supports, knobs, the auto-ignition system and the flame failure device, parts and labour, exclusions, registration requirements and the service process are subject to brand policy and the final invoice or warranty card. Glass breakage and damage arising from impact, thermal shock, misuse or improper cleaning is generally not covered. This is a gas appliance and must be installed and connected by a qualified technician using a compatible regulator and an ISI-marked gas hose; the hose must be inspected regularly and replaced at the interval marked on it. The appliance is supplied configured for LPG; use with piped natural gas requires a nozzle conversion carried out by an authorised technician and is chargeable separately. Cut-out dimensions must be taken from the manufacturer's installation template and not from the appliance's external dimensions; counter cutting of granite, quartz or other worktop material is irreversible and is the customer's responsibility to verify before work begins. Counter cutting, granite or stone work, carpentry, cabinet modification, sealing, gas hose, regulator, nozzle kit, installation hardware, installation labour and any civil work are chargeable separately unless expressly included on the final invoice; site readiness, including a suitable gas point and cabinet clearance below the hob, is the customer's responsibility. The Flame Failure Device interrupts gas supply to a burner when that burner's flame is extinguished; it is a safety feature only and is not a gas leak detector, does not protect against leaks elsewhere in the installation, and does not make it safe to leave cooking unattended. The appliance must be used only in a well-ventilated kitchen and never for space heating; the cylinder valve should be closed after use, and leak testing must be carried out with soap solution and never with a flame. Flame output, gas consumption, cooking times, ignition reliability, FFD response and burner life depend on gas quality and pressure, regulator condition, installation, burner and sensor cleanliness, cookware size, weight and material, ambient conditions, user technique and maintenance; brass burners discolour with normal use, which is not a defect. Individual burner heat ratings and cut-out dimensions are not stated in supplier material and should be confirmed with us before purchase or installation.
