A water heater is one of very few appliances where electricity, high pressure and water meet in a small sealed vessel in a wet room — which is why safety engineering matters more here than on almost anything else in the house. The Rapid Jet layers four independent protections: a capillary thermostat regulating normal operation, an automatic thermal cut-out if that fails, a pressure release valve for pressure build-up, and a fusible plug as a final backstop. They're independent by design — each one covers a different failure, so no single fault leaves the unit unprotected. On top sits anti-siphon protection, and that one deserves its own explanation.
Anti-siphon — the protection that saves the element
When the mains supply drops, water can siphon backwards out of the tank — and the heater is then sitting with an exposed element and no water around it. Switch it on in that state and the element burns out in seconds, which is one of the commonest ways an instant geyser dies in areas with irregular supply. Anti-siphon protection prevents that backflow, so the tank stays full and the element stays submerged. Alongside it, the element itself is an ISI-marked nickel-coated copper component chosen to resist scaling and corrosion in hard water — which, given Delhi's water, is what determines how long it heats efficiently rather than slowly.
6.5 bar — check this if you live above the fourth floor
This is the specification most people don't check until it becomes a problem. In a multi-storey building, or a home with a pressure pump, water reaches the heater at considerably higher pressure than in a ground-floor house — and a tank not rated for it will strain, leak at the joints, or fail early. A 6.5 bar pressure rating means the Rapid Jet is built for multi-storey buildings and pressurised supplies rather than only low-pressure gravity feeds. If your building runs a booster pump, this is the number to look for.
