No slab
cuttingthe reason to choose this one
Every conventional built-in hob needs a hole cut in your countertop, and that is the part of the purchase people underestimate. Cutting granite or quartz is skilled work, it is chargeable on top of the appliance, it takes a separate visit, and once the stone is cut it cannot be uncut. Get the opening wrong and you replace the worktop, not the hob. This is a tablet hob: a 29 mm slim body designed to drop into place as supplied, giving the flush built-in appearance without that cut. For a finished kitchen, a rented flat, or anyone who simply doesn't want a stonecutter in the house, that removes the entire risk and the entire cost from the job. It still needs a qualified technician for the gas connection, and site conditions vary — so send us a photo of your counter and we'll confirm the fit before you order.
2.7 / 1.8 / 1.4 kW — the numbers most brands won't print
Most hob listings tell you there are three burners and call one of them "large". This one publishes actual kilowatt figures for each, and that is the specification worth comparing. Burner output in kW is what decides whether water boils quickly, whether a tadka gets properly hot, and whether a heavy kadhai reaches temperature or just sits there warming. The 2.7 kW triple ring is the powerful one — high-flame cooking, deep frying, fast boiling, anything in a wide heavy vessel. The 1.8 kW double ring handles everyday sabzi, dal and a pressure cooker. The 1.4 kW single ring holds a genuine low simmer for milk, tea and anything that scorches easily. When you compare this against another hob, ask that brand for its kW figures — if they won't give them, that tells you something on its own.
29 mm and 78 cm — a slim body with genuine space between burners
Two dimensions do the work here. The 29 mm body height is what makes the hob read as part of the counter rather than an appliance parked on it — a conventional cooktop stands 100 mm or more above the slab and always looks like a separate object. The 78 cm width is the more practical one: three burners across 78 cm gives each one substantially more room than the usual 60 cm three-burner, so a wide kadhai on the big burner doesn't crowd whatever's beside it. Handles turn outward, and you can reach between vessels without passing your arm over a live flame. If your problem has been pans colliding rather than running out of burners, this shape solves the right one — just measure the counter run first, because 78 cm plus clearance is a real commitment of worktop.
🔥 The three burners, and what each one is for
2.7 kW · TRIPLE RING
The powerful one. Deep frying, fast boiling, bhuna-ing, and any wide heavy vessel that needs flame across its whole base.
1.8 kW · DOUBLE RING
The everyday burner. Dal, sabzi, a pressure cooker, rice — most of your daily cooking happens here.
1.4 kW · SINGLE RING
The gentle one. Tea, milk, simmering and keeping something warm without catching on the base.
🎯 Right for
If you routinely need a fourth burner going at once, ask us about a four-burner instead. And measure your counter run before ordering — 78 cm plus clearance is wider than most three-burner hobs.
Heavy enough that a full pressure cooker sits dead stable, and the enamel resists the staining that bare cast iron picks up. Dry them after washing.
Turn and it lights — no mains connection needed for ignition. Keep a spare battery; when the spark stops it's almost always the battery, not a fault.
Matt rather than gloss, so it shows fingerprints and water marks far less than a shiny black top. Wipe when cool; never scour.
Shaped for a firm grip with wet or oily hands, and finished to match the glass rather than standing out in chrome.

Crompton TAB-SMHB783-MBL · SuperSlim Matt · 78 cm 3-Burner Hob · 2.7 kW Triple Ring + 1.8 kW Double Ring + 1.4 kW Single Ring Brass Burners · 29 mm Slim Body · Drop-In, No Slab Cutting · Battery Auto Ignition · Toughened Matt Black Glass · Cast Iron Pan Supports · 2-Year Comprehensive + 5 Years On Burners And Glass
Warranty as per Crompton's terms and conditions — 2 years comprehensive on the product plus 5 years on the burners and glass; the scope of cover, treatment of the glass top, burners, pan supports, knobs, the auto-ignition system and battery, parts and labour, exclusions, registration requirements and the service process are subject to brand policy and the final invoice or warranty card. Glass breakage and damage arising from impact, thermal shock, misuse or improper cleaning is generally not covered. This is a gas appliance and must be connected by a qualified technician using a compatible regulator and an ISI-marked gas hose; the hose must be inspected regularly and replaced at the interval marked on it. The presence of a flame failure device is not stated in supplier material for this model and must be confirmed before purchase; in the absence of a flame failure device, gas will continue to flow if a burner flame is extinguished, and burners must not be left unattended. LPG and PNG compatibility and the ignition battery type are likewise not stated in supplier material and should be confirmed. Where a nozzle conversion is required it must be carried out by an authorised technician and is chargeable separately. This model is supplied as a drop-in tablet hob not requiring a slab cut-out; suitability nonetheless depends on countertop dimensions, level, site conditions and gas connection readiness, all of which are the customer's responsibility to verify before ordering. Gas hose, regulator, nozzle kit, installation hardware, installation labour, countertop modification and any civil work are chargeable separately unless expressly included on the final invoice. The appliance must be used only in a well-ventilated kitchen and never for space heating; the cylinder valve should be closed after use, and leak testing must be carried out with soap solution and never with a flame. Stated burner outputs of 2.7 kW, 1.8 kW and 1.4 kW are manufacturer specifications; actual flame output, gas consumption, cooking times and burner life depend on gas quality and pressure, regulator condition, installation, burner and port cleanliness, cookware size, weight and material, ambient conditions, user technique and maintenance. Brass burners discolour with normal use, which is not a defect, and cast iron supports may show surface marking if left wet. Toughened glass is heat-resistant but breakable; avoid impact, dragging cookware, thermal shock and abrasive cleaners, and do not place hot vessels on unsupported areas of the glass.
