This is not an inverter AC, and you should understand the difference rather than have it glossed over. An inverter varies its compressor speed continuously, easing off once the room is cool and holding temperature at low power. A fixed-speed machine has two states: running at full output, or off. It cools the room, switches off, drifts warm, switches back on. The practical differences are real: an inverter is cheaper to run over long hours, holds temperature more evenly, and is quieter once settled. A fixed-speed machine costs substantially less to buy, has fewer electronics to fail, and is simpler and cheaper to repair. The honest rule is about hours. If a room is cooled for a few hours at a time, or seasonally, the inverter premium may never pay back and this is the better buy. If it runs eight or ten hours nightly through the summer, put the money into an inverter and get it back on the bill.
0.9 ton — a real size, not a stripped-down 1 ton
Most shops start at 1 ton and treat anything smaller as not worth stocking, which leaves people over-buying for genuinely small rooms. A 0.9 ton machine exists for spaces where a larger unit would be the wrong tool: a small bedroom, a study, a child's room, an office cabin, a pooja room, a servant's room or a small shop counter. Oversizing a small room is not harmless. A too-large AC cools the air quickly, hits the thermostat and shuts off before it has pulled the humidity out — which leaves the room cold and clammy rather than comfortable, and in a fixed-speed machine also means frequent stop-start cycling, which is hard on the compressor. Sized correctly, it runs in longer, steadier stretches and dehumidifies properly. This is a 2 star machine, and it still has the lowest annual consumption of any air conditioner we stock. That sounds contradictory until you understand what star ratings measure. Ratings are graded within capacity bands — a 5 star 1.5 ton is compared against other 1.5 ton machines, not against this one. Annual kWh, by contrast, is absolute: it is the actual number of units the machine is expected to draw over a standard year's use, and it converts directly into rupees at your tariff.
