40
secondsthe number that decides everything

Of all the numbers on this page, the one that actually determines whether you keep using the machine is the heat-up time. A traditional espresso machine has a boiler that must bring a tank of water up to temperature, and that means standing in the kitchen for several minutes before you can pull a shot. On a Sunday that is fine. On a Tuesday, with a bus to catch, it is exactly the moment people reach for instant coffee instead — and after a few months of that the machine becomes an ornament. A Thermoblock heats water as it flows through a heated metal block rather than holding a tank hot, which brings this one to brewing temperature in around forty seconds from cold. That is roughly the time it takes to fill the basket and lock in the filter holdermeaning the machine is ready when you are, with no dead time at all. It is the difference between a machine you use every morning and one you use at weekends.

The descaling alert — a small feature that matters enormously in Delhi

Scale is the most common thing that kills a home espresso machine, and it kills them quietly. Hard water carries dissolved calcium and magnesium; every time the machine heats water, some of that is deposited inside as a hard chalky layer. It builds up gradually on the heating element and inside the water channel, and the symptoms creep in so slowly that most people never connect them to a cause: the coffee is slightly cooler, then the flow is slower, then the shot tastes flat and the machine gets noisy. By the time it is obvious, the damage is usually done. This machine has a descaling alert that tells you when a cycle is due, which removes the one thing everyone relies on and fails at — remembering. Delhi water is hard enough that this matters more here than in most places, and a Thermoblock's narrow channel scales faster than a boiler. Run the cycle when it asks, use a proper descaler, and use filtered or RO water if you can.

Flow stop — how you make the same coffee twice

The frustration with a basic espresso machine is inconsistency: one morning the shot is excellent and the next it is thin or bitter, with no obvious reason why. A large part of that is volume. If you are stopping the shot by eye, you are pulling a slightly different drink every time — and since the first part of an extraction is strong and syrupy while the last part is weak and increasingly bitter, a few extra seconds materially changes what is in the cup. Flow stop lets you programme the volume so the machine cuts off at the same point every time. That turns your coffee from something that happens to you into something you can adjust deliberately: change one variable — grind, dose or volume — taste the result, and keep what works. Combined with the double drip tray, which drops to take a 12 cm glass, the same machine handles a short espresso and a tall iced coffee without compromise.

🎯 Right for

Fast Weekday Mornings First Real Espresso Machine Cappuccino & Latte Drinkers Narrow Counters Hard-Water Households Office Cabins & Studios

A sensible first step up from instant, not a specialist machine. The pod option and the 40-second heat-up are what keep it in daily use — if you want latte-art microfoam specifically, ask us about an open-wand machine instead.

🥛 Advanced Cappuccino System

Mixes air, milk and steam for you, so a beginner gets thick cappuccino foam first time. Easier than a bare wand — but not the machine for pouring latte art.

💧 Water Level Indicator

You can see the tank level without lifting anything, which is what stops the machine running dry halfway through a shot.

♨️ Cup Warmer

The top plate warms cups. A 30 ml espresso poured into a cold ceramic cup loses a surprising amount of heat before it reaches you.

🔌 Automatic Standby

Powers down on its own if you walk away and forget — useful on a machine that heats on demand and gets left switched on.

⚠️ A 1350 W machine producing pressurised hot water and live steam. Please read this properly. 1. The frother and its sleeve get extremely hot and stay hot after use. Handle by the grip only, and keep children well away from the machine during and after operation. 2. Never remove the filter holder mid-extraction. There is pressure behind it — wait for the shot to finish and the pressure to release before twisting it out. 3. Purge the frother before and after steaming and wipe it immediately; milk dried inside the sleeve blocks the air intake and is the commonest cause of "it stopped frothing properly". 4. Never immerse the machine. Tank, drip tray and filter holder come out; the body is wiped, never soaked. 5. Unplug before cleaning. 6. Act on the descaling alert. It exists precisely because scale is what kills these machines — use a proper descaler, never vinegar or an improvised solution, and note that scale damage is normally excluded from warranty. Filtered or RO water materially extends the machine's life in Delhi. 7. Use a properly earthed socket on a flat, stable, heat-tolerant surface with clearance above for the tank. 8. Don't let the tank run dry mid-shot — the level indicator is there to prevent exactly that.
Four things worth knowing from day one. Warm the cup on the top plate while the machine heats — it takes the same forty seconds. Programme the flow stop early and then leave it; consistency is what lets you actually improve. Keep a few E.S.E. pods in the cupboard for the mornings you're running late — it's what stops the machine going unused. And run the descaling cycle when it asks, not when it's convenient. Warranty as per De'Longhi India's / the importer's terms and conditions — 1 year brand warranty as stated in supplier material. The scope of cover, parts and labour, exclusions, product registration and the service process are subject to brand or importer policy and the final invoice or warranty card. Damage arising from scale build-up, failure to act on the descaling alert, use of an incorrect descaling product, use of unsuitable water, immersion of the machine body or unauthorised servicing is commonly excluded; consumable and accessory items including filters, seals, the water tank and drip tray may be excluded or covered for a shorter period. Supplier material for this listing states the power rating as 1350 W while the product title states 1300 W; the figure should be verified against the product rating plate before purchase. The model code is not stated in the supplied specification and should be verified against the carton and invoice at delivery. This is a manual pump espresso machine with a filter holder and does not include a coffee grinder; ground coffee, E.S.E. pods or a separate grinder is required and is not supplied. E.S.E. pods are an open industry standard and are not supplied with the machine; availability, size compatibility and quality vary by supplier. A tamper and milk jug are not listed among the box contents and should be confirmed before purchase; body material is not stated. Weight is stated in supplier material as 9.26 pounds, given here as approximately 4.2 kg. Heat-up time of approximately 40 seconds is a manufacturer specification measured under their own test conditions and will vary with ambient temperature, water temperature, scale condition and how recently the machine was used. Coffee quality, extraction, crema, milk texture and drink temperature depend substantially on the coffee used, its roast level, freshness and grind, the dose and tamp applied, water quality and temperature, cup preheating, machine cleanliness and scale condition, and on user technique; results improve with practice and no particular outcome is guaranteed. The advanced cappuccino system is designed to produce cappuccino-style foam and is not equivalent to an open steam wand for producing fine microfoam or for latte art. This appliance produces pressurised hot water and live steam which can cause severe burns: the frother remains hot after use, the filter holder must not be removed during extraction, and the machine must be kept out of reach of children during and after operation. Only removable parts may be washed; the machine body must never be immersed and the appliance must be unplugged before cleaning. Regular cleaning of the frother and periodic descaling are required and are the user's responsibility; Thermoblock heating systems use a narrow water channel and may be more sensitive to scale than boiler systems. Descaling products, filters and servicing are chargeable separately unless expressly included on the final invoice. In hard-water areas the use of filtered or treated water is recommended. The appliance must be used on a flat, stable, heat-tolerant surface and connected to a properly earthed socket.
