Steady
heatthe invisible variable
Everyone talks about pressure and grind, and almost nobody talks about temperature β which is odd, because it changes the taste of a shot as much as either. Espresso is brewed in a narrow window of around 90 to 96Β°C. Below it, the coffee under-extracts and tastes sour and thin. Above it, you scald the grounds and get harsh, burnt bitterness. The problem on cheaper machines is not hitting that window once, it is holding it. Water cools as it moves through the machine, and a heating system that simply switches on and off overshoots and undershoots β so temperature drifts across the twenty-five seconds of a shot, and the first part of the cup is extracted differently from the last. Active Temperature Control regulates the water continuously through the whole brew rather than aiming at an average. The practical result is consistency: the same beans, ground the same way, give you the same cup on Thursday as they did on Monday.
Eight grind settings β and what to actually do with them
Grind size is the single most powerful control you have over espresso, and it works by changing how hard the water has to fight to get through. Finer grounds pack tighter and resist more, so water moves slowly and pulls out more flavour. Coarser grounds let it through faster and pull out less. That is why the same coffee can taste sharp and watery one day and heavy and bitter the next. The rule that makes it usable is simple. If your shot runs out fast and tastes sour or thin, go finer. If it drips slowly and tastes bitter or harsh, go coarser. Move one setting at a time and taste before changing anything else β changing grind and dose together tells you nothing about which one helped. Eight settings is enough range to handle a light roast and a dark roast properly, and the sensor grinding keeps the dose consistent so grind is the only thing changing.
π― Right for
This machine rewards involvement. You'll dose, tamp, steam and dial in grind yourself β if you'd rather press one button, tell us and we'll point you at a bean-to-cup instead, honestly and without a sales pitch.
Keeps the dose consistent shot to shot. That matters more than it sounds β if the dose wanders, you can't tell whether a change came from your grind adjustment or from luck.
Generous for a machine this size β several drinks between refills, and it lifts out to fill at the tap rather than needing a jug.
Use the grinder normally, or bypass it with pre-ground β useful for decaf in the evening without emptying the hopper.
Tamper, single and double filters and a cleaning brush included β the accessories most machines at this level expect you to buy separately.

For the floor: lead on Active Temperature Control, because temperature is the variable nobody explains and it's a great way to sound like you know coffee. Espresso brews in a narrow window around 90β96Β°C; below it the shot is sour and thin, above it burnt and harsh β and cheap machines don't fail to reach it, they fail to hold it across the twenty-five seconds of a shot. Second, 8 grind settings with the rule that makes them usable: fast and sour, go finer; slow and bitter, go coarser; one setting at a time. Third, be straight that you tamp this one yourself β tamper's in the box. That's the real difference from the Opera, and it's a preference, not a downgrade. Also missing: pump pressure, bean hopper capacity, cup clearance, country of origin. Call 9710000251.

Warranty as per De'Longhi India's / the importer's terms and conditions β 1 year as stated in supplier material; online product registration may be required and should be completed promptly after purchase. The scope of cover, parts and labour, exclusions and the service process are subject to brand or importer policy and the final invoice or warranty card. Damage arising from scale build-up, failure to descale, use of an incorrect descaling product, use of unsuitable water, introduction of anything other than roasted coffee beans into the bean hopper, immersion of the machine body or unauthorised servicing is commonly excluded; consumable and accessory items including filters, seals, the tamper, water tank and drip tray may be excluded or covered for a shorter period. The dimensions stated in supplier material for this model are 12 Γ 22 Γ 12 cm; this is inconsistent with the stated weight of 9.3 kg, the 1.5 litre water tank and the presence of a built-in grinder, and should be disregarded. The correct unit dimensions must be confirmed before purchase and before planning counter space. Bean hopper capacity, maximum cup clearance height, pump pressure and country of origin are not stated in supplier material and should also be confirmed. Coffee quality, extraction, crema, milk texture and drink temperature depend substantially on the beans used, their roast level, freshness and storage, grind setting, dose, tamp pressure, water quality and hardness, water temperature, cup preheating, machine cleanliness and scale condition, and on user technique; this is a manual machine requiring the user to dose and tamp, and results improve with practice, with no particular outcome guaranteed. Latte art requires practice and is a user skill, not a machine function. Brewing temperature ranges quoted are general guidance on espresso extraction and not a manufacturer specification for this model. Cold Extraction Technology produces a rapid cold-extracted coffee and differs from traditional long-steep cold brew in method and result; the stated preparation time of under 5 minutes is a manufacturer specification measured under their own test conditions. This appliance produces pressurised hot water and live steam which can cause severe burns and contains a powered grinder: the steam wand remains hot after use, the portafilter must not be removed during extraction, nothing may be inserted into the grinder or hopper while the machine is connected to power, and the machine must be kept out of reach of children during and after operation. Only designated removable parts may be washed; the machine body must never be immersed and the appliance must be unplugged before cleaning or descaling. Regular cleaning of the milk system and grinder and periodic descaling are required and are the user's responsibility; descaling products, filters and servicing are chargeable separately unless expressly included on the final invoice. In hard-water areas the use of filtered or treated water is recommended.
