Platesit straightens with air
Every straightener before this one worked the same way: clamp hair between two hot ceramic plates and press. That's what causes the damage — direct contact with a surface far hotter than hair can tolerate. The Airstrait™ does away with plates entirely, using high-pressure airflow, precisely heated and projected evenly through the tress as you style. Airflow is directed downwards at a 45° angle to create the tension that aligns the hair, so you get a straight finish through tension and airflow rather than pressure and heat — with less damage and breakage.
Measured sixteen times a second — because heat spikes are what damage hair
Hair damage rarely comes from the average temperature of a styling tool. It comes from the spikes. An ordinary heater overshoots, cools, overshoots again, and it's those peaks that scorch the cuticle. Glass bead thermistors in the machine arms measure and regulate airflow temperature up to 16 times per second, holding it steady rather than letting it swing — which is how the Airstrait prevents extreme heat damage and protects hair's natural shine. It's the same control principle Dyson applies across its hair care range, and it's the reason the temperature numbers here are lower than a conventional straightener's while the result holds.
Wet to dry in one step — the routine, halved
The ordinary sequence is dry the hair with one tool, then straighten it with another, applying heat twice. The Airstrait dries and straightens at the same time, taking towel-dried hair to a finished straight style in a single pass — no switching tools, no waiting between them. It also refreshes from dry at 100° or 130°C with an optional Boost mode for a touch-up later in the day. The finish keeps volume and bounce rather than pressing hair flat, which is what most people actually want and rarely get from plates.
