Under
150°Ccompare the numbers yourself
"Styles without heat damage" is on the box, and rather than repeat the phrase we'd rather give you the number underneath it, because a number is something you can check. Dyson's intelligent heat control holds the styling temperature below 150°C and measures it forty times a second to keep it there. A conventional curling wand or tong typically runs well past 200°C, and it delivers that heat by pressing the hair against a hot metal barrel. Two things are different here and both matter. The temperature is substantially lower — and the heat arrives through moving air rather than through direct contact with hot metal, which is a far less efficient way to transfer it into the hair. There is also no clamp, so the hair isn't squeezed while it's hot and pliable. Dyson describes this as styling without extreme heat damage, and their own wording is "extreme" for a reason — this is a heated tool, and heat always has some effect. What it isn't is 200°C metal pressed against your hair, and that's a real difference worth paying for.
Both curl directions from one barrel — and why that's what makes it look real
This is a small feature with a disproportionate effect on the result, and almost nobody explains why it exists. Hair that has been curled entirely in one direction looks curled. Every section spirals the same way, they stack together into uniform tubes, and the eye reads it immediately as "styled" — which is fine for a set, deliberate look and wrong for anything meant to look natural. Hair that grows and falls on its own doesn't do that; it goes in whichever direction it feels like, section by section. A conventional wand makes alternating directions awkward, because you have to flip the tool and your wrist to reverse the wrap. This barrel simply reverses its airflow on demand, so you alternate clockwise and anti-clockwise as you work round the head without changing anything or turning the tool over. The curls then sit against each other instead of nesting into each other, and the whole thing reads as hair rather than as a hairstyle. Alternate every section. It's the single biggest difference between home curls and salon curls.
The tapered barrel — where curls should actually start
Of the six attachments, the conical barrel is the one that changes the result most, and it's about where the curl begins rather than how it looks. Most curling tools are a uniform cylinder, and there's a practical limit to how close you can bring a hot metal cylinder to someone's scalp — so curls tend to start somewhere around the middle of the hair's length. That's why home-curled hair often looks flat and heavy at the top and busy at the bottom. A tapered barrel is narrower at the tip, which lets you work closer to the roots, and because this is airflow rather than hot metal there's less risk in getting close. Two results follow. You get lift and shape starting near the root rather than halfway down, so the hair has volume where it needs it. And the curl itself is naturally tighter at the end than at the top, which is how curls actually behave — a uniform spiral from root to tip is the giveaway of a tool, not of hair.
🎛️ The settings — and what "7 styling settings" actually means
The "7 styling settings" figure in the title is 3 heat + 3 airflow + 1 cold shot. It counts controls, not combinations — useful to know, since the same "7" appears on several Dyson listings without explanation. Use the cold shot on every section: hair sets in the shape it cools in.
🎯 Right for
Honest placement: this is a styler that also dries. If you only want fast, gentle drying, our Supersonic at ₹23,692 does that for half the money. If you want poker-straight hair, the Airstrait is the right tool. The Airwrap is for shaping hair — and it rewards practice rather than replacing it.
The Coanda effect needs genuine air pressure to work on thick hair. The motor speed isn't a boast — it's the reason the hair wraps at all.
Saves a curl routine so the sequence is the same every time. Useful while learning; the tool works perfectly well on its own controls without it.
The lightest tool in our Dyson range. Styling takes far longer than drying, held at shoulder height throughout — weight matters more here than on a dryer.
Hair keeps the shape it cools in. Let each curl cool fully on the barrel before releasing and it holds hours longer.
