Dyson seals the entire machine to HEPA H13 standard, at 24 critical points — not just the filter element. Air that enters the machine has to pass through the filter media on its way out, rather than slipping around the edges of the filter and back out of the vent. The HEPA H13 media is rated to capture 99.95% of particles, including PM2.5, PM10, pollen, pet dander and bacteria.
Formaldehyde — destroyed, not trapped
Formaldehyde off-gasses continuously from new furniture, plywood, laminates, paints, adhesives and soft furnishings. The HP12's selective catalytic oxidation filter breaks formaldehyde down at a molecular level and destroys it — and because it destroys rather than traps, that filter never needs replacing for the life of the machine. Formaldehyde is also one of the five readings shown live on the LCD.
One machine for all twelve months
In winter it is a heater with a thermostat that cuts out at your target temperature and restarts as needed. In summer it is a fan, projecting a stream of purified air across the room via Air Multiplier™ with no exposed blades — safer around small children, and easier to wipe clean than a bladed fan. All year it purifies.
