🧠 Scalp Protect Mode — the feature no other hair dryer has
- Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor measures the distance between the dryer nozzle and your scalp in real time — the same sensor technology used in smartphone facial recognition
- When the dryer is close to the scalp (where temperature exposure is highest), it automatically reduces heat output. When further away for drying mid-lengths and ends, heat can increase safely
- Result: scalp receives less heat stress, improving moisture retention in the scalp skin and reducing the over-drying that causes frizz and brittleness at the roots
- Conventional dryers apply the same heat at 5cm or 30cm from the scalp — no adaptation to the user's actual proximity during drying
- Particularly valuable for Indian hair which tends to be thick and benefit from longer drying times near the scalp — Scalp Protect enables thorough root drying without scalp heat damage
Air Multiplier™ Technology — 3× airflow from the same motor
Dyson's Air Multiplier draws in surrounding air and projects it through the nozzle, amplifying the motor's output airflow by 3 times. The result is high-velocity, concentrated airflow that dries hair faster than conventional dryers of similar wattage — because it's not just the motor speed but the amplified air projection that determines drying effectiveness. Controlled, smooth airflow also reduces turbulence that causes frizzing during drying.
Attachment Learning — the dryer that knows what's attached
Nural sensors detect which attachment is fitted and automatically adjust airflow speed and heat profile for optimal use of that tool. The Diffuser requires lower heat and gentler airflow than the Styling Concentrator. The Gentle Air attachment needs different settings than the Smoothing Nozzle. The Supersonic Nural™ makes these adjustments without any manual input — attach a tool and the dryer reconfigures itself. It also remembers your most-used settings per attachment over time.
Pause Detect — smart safety for real-life drying sessions
An accelerometer inside the dryer detects when it's set down on a surface — and automatically reduces airflow and deactivates the heater within seconds. When you pick it up again, it resumes. For the inevitable moments of a real drying session — answering a phone, adjusting a clip, applying product — Pause Detect prevents the dryer from sitting hot and running on a surface, reducing heat damage risk to both hair and surfaces while saving energy.
