On marble, granite, light tile and pale wood, fine dust is genuinely invisible from standing height. It sits flat against a pale surface with almost no contrast, so you clean a floor, look at it, and it appears done — while a good deal of the dust is still there. The Laser Slim Fluffy head solves that with a green laser mounted at a precise angle so it projects a low, raking beam across the floor just ahead of the brush bar. Light striking a particle from the side scatters off it, so each speck lights up brightly against the dark floor around it. It's the same effect as sunlight through a gap in a curtain revealing dust in the air. Dyson's testing indicates the laser reveals twice as much dust as cleaning without it. In practice it changes how you clean: you can see which passes worked and which patches still need attention, rather than guessing. The head also has a 250 mm brush bar in a low-profile body, so it goes further under beds, sofas and cabinets.
Hair Screw Tool and Motorbar — the tangle is dealt with inside the tool
Long hair and pet hair are the standing problem with every vacuum: the hair wraps tightly around the spinning brush bar, and every few cleans you have to stop, turn the head over and cut it free with scissors. Both cleaning tools here are built to prevent that rather than make it easier to fix. The Hair Screw Tool uses a conical spiral brush — because the barrel tapers, hair cannot settle in one place and wind up. It is driven along the cone and straight off the end into the airflow, so it ends up in the bin instead of on the brush. The Motorbar head applies the same idea to the main floor head, with vanes that comb hair off the bar as it turns. The de-tangling happens continuously while you vacuum. For a household with long hair or pets, that removes the maintenance step entirely.
Single-button power — press once on, press again off
Most cordless vacuums use a trigger you have to squeeze continuously for as long as you're cleaning. Over twenty or thirty minutes that's sustained pressure from one finger, and it's the reason people's hands ache after a long clean. It also means you can't easily change hands, because letting go stops the machine — so one arm does all the work while the other stays free. The V12 uses a single button instead: press it once to start, press again to stop. Nothing is held. You can pass the machine from hand to hand while working round furniture, hold it overhead for curtain rails and fan blades without straining, and put your hand in a comfortable position rather than the one the trigger dictates. Combined with the 2.2 kg weight, it makes a long clean noticeably less tiring.
2 year warranty including accidental damage protection
This model carries accidental damage protection alongside the standard manufacturer warranty for the full two-year term. An ordinary warranty covers manufacturing defects — a fault that was always going to happen. It does not normally cover the thing that actually happens to a cordless vacuum, which is that it gets knocked off a wall dock, dropped on a staircase or caught by a door. Accidental damage cover addresses that gap. On a tall, light machine that spends its life being carried around the house and hung on a wall, it is the more likely claim of the two. The scope of cover, what constitutes accidental damage, the claims process, parts and labour, exclusions, product registration and the service process are subject to brand policy and the final invoice or warranty card, and should be confirmed before purchase.
