Maps
first,
then cleansLiDAR and SLAM explained
The difference between a cheap robot vacuum and a good one is almost entirely navigation, and it is easy to see once you know what to look for. A basic robot moves in a random pattern, bouncing off whatever it hits, and eventually covers most of the floor by chance — which is why it takes so long, misses patches, and goes over the same strip five times. The N30 uses LiDAR: a spinning laser on top measures the distance to every surface around it many times a second, building an accurate plan of the room. SLAM — simultaneous localisation and mapping — is what lets it work out where it is standing on that map while it is still drawing it. Once the map exists, the robot cleans in orderly parallel lines instead of wandering, so it covers the floor once, properly, and returns to the dock by the shortest route. It scans over 1000 sq ft in roughly eight minutes, and the finished map is what makes room-by-room cleaning and virtual walls possible in the app.
ZeroTangle 2.0 — a V-shaped brush instead of a straight one
Hair wrapping round the brush is the single commonest complaint about robot vacuums, and it is worse in Indian homes than most because of the volume of long hair. On a conventional straight brush bar, hair catches at one point and then winds tightly along the shaft. Within a week or two it forms a solid rope that stops the bristles touching the floor, and the owner has to flip the robot over and cut it away with a blade. ZeroTangle 2.0 uses a triple V-shaped brush design instead. The angled bristle rows push strands outwards towards the ends of the brush rather than letting them settle in the middle and coil — so hair is fed towards the suction inlet and into the dustbin instead of staying on the brush. For a household with long hair or pets, this is the feature that determines whether the robot is still cleaning properly in month three or quietly doing nothing.
10,000 Pa — what the number means and where it matters
Pa stands for pascal, a unit of pressure, and on a robot vacuum it describes the strength of the vacuum the machine can generate. Higher figures mean more force available to lift debris off the floor. Where it counts most is not hard flooring — most robots manage tile and marble adequately — but carpets, rugs and the gaps between floor tiles, where dirt sits below the surface level and has to be pulled up rather than swept along. At 10,000 Pa there is enough suction to lift grit out of rug pile and fine dust out of grout lines rather than passing over them. Two things worth knowing: maximum suction is used in the highest setting, which draws more battery and makes more noise, so most cleaning happens at a lower level with turbo reserved for problem areas. And suction figures across brands are measured under their own test conditions, so they compare loosely rather than exactly.
📱 Control and scheduling
Virtual walls are set on the map in the app, so you can keep the robot out of a pooja room, away from a pet's water bowl, or off a rug you would rather it did not mop.
🎯 Suited to
At 11 cm tall it passes under most beds, sofas and low cabinets — the areas that collect the most dust and get cleaned the least. Threshold climbing is rated to 20 mm, so check the height of any raised doorways or room dividers in your home.
Water flow to the mopping plate is regulated electronically and set in the app, so the cloth stays damp rather than soaking the floor.
Cliff sensors stop it going over stair edges and balcony steps; obstacle sensors slow it before contact with furniture and walls.
A multi-layer HEPA filter on the exhaust path traps fine dust rather than blowing it back out into the room as the robot works.
Quiet enough to run while you are at home. Scheduled cleaning while the house is empty is quieter still for everyone.
