Roughly a Tenth of What a 1.5 Ton AC Draws.

A large desert cooler built for Delhi's dry summer peak · an 87 litre tank, so it runs overnight and into the morning without a refill · 3900 m³/hr of air delivery from an 18-inch three-blade fan · 50 mm honeycomb pads, thick enough to stay properly wetted at that airflow · 4-way auto-swing so the room cools evenly rather than just the patch in front of it · a real protection suite — thermal overload, dry-run pump shut-off and 160–270 V voltage protection · 150 W, which any household inverter will carry through a power cut · a UV-protected body · castor wheels with brakes · made in India · 1 year comprehensive warranty including the fan motor

50 mm
padswhy pad thickness matters

The pads are where the cooling actually happens, and their thickness has to be matched to the airflow. Honeycomb cellulose pads are a cross-hatched cardboard-like structure with an enormous internal surface area — far more water is exposed to passing air than with old wood-wool pads, which is why honeycomb cools better and lasts longer. But air moving at 3900 m³/hr passes through quickly, and a thin pad simply does not give it enough contact time to pick up much moisture. At 50 mm the air spends long enough in the wetted media to evaporate properly, which is why this pairing is worth checking when you compare coolers: a big fan with thin pads produces a lot of air that is barely cooled. Two maintenance points that follow. Pads scale up over a season in hard water and lose efficiency, so plan to replace them roughly annually. And run the pump for a minute before the fan so the pads are properly wetted before air starts moving through them.

🛡️

Three protections that address the three ways coolers actually die

Air coolers in Indian households tend to fail in three specific ways, and this model guards against all of them. Thermal overload protection shuts the motor down if it overheats — which is what happens when a cooler runs ten or twelve hours a day through peak summer, or when something obstructs the fan. Motor burnout is the commonest cause of a cooler dying young, and this is the safeguard against it. Dry-run pump shut-off cuts the water pump when the tank empties. A pump running dry overheats its seals and fails quickly, which is exactly what would otherwise happen to anyone who sets the cooler going overnight and sleeps through the tank emptying. And voltage protection across a 160–270 V range keeps the motor and electronics safe through the supply swings that are normal in Delhi NCR at peak evening load. None of these is glamorous and none is visible in a showroom, but together they are most of the reason one cooler lasts five seasons and another lasts two.

150 W, and what that means for running cost and power cuts

The rated power is 150 W, against roughly 1200 to 1500 W for a 1.5 ton split air conditioner — about a tenth. Two consequences matter in practice. First, running cost: at Delhi's domestic tariff the difference over a full summer of daily use is substantial, and it is the reason many households run a cooler through April and May and only switch the AC on when the humidity climbs. We can work the figures out with you against your own tariff slab rather than quoting an average that may not match your bill. Second, and more useful during a Delhi summer: at 150 W this runs comfortably on an ordinary household inverter. An air conditioner does not — it needs far more than a domestic inverter can supply. So when the power goes at nine in the evening in peak season, this keeps running and the AC does not. For a lot of families that single fact is the argument.

The water level indicator is the one to actually use. Dry-run protection is a backstop — topping up before it triggers is better for the pump than relying on it.

🎯 Suited to

Large Rooms & Halls April To June Dry Heat Homes With Frequent Power Cuts Overnight Running Shops, Godowns & Workshops Semi-Open & Verandah Spaces

A desert cooler needs airflow through the room to work — it is not for a sealed, air-conditioned-style space. If you want cooling that works in July and August humidity too, ask us about an air conditioner instead, and we will tell you honestly which suits your room and your budget.

🔄 4-Way Auto-Swing

Louvres sweep horizontally and vertically, so a large room cools evenly instead of one cold patch in front and warm air at the back.

☀️ UV-Protected Body

Resists fading and surface degradation from direct sun — relevant for a cooler that lives near a window, on a balcony or in a verandah.

🛞 Castor Wheels With Brakes

19.5 kg empty rolls easily between rooms; the brakes stop it drifting on a smooth floor once running.

💧 Water Level Indicator

Check the tank at a glance without opening or tilting anything — which is what stops you running it dry in the first place.

⚠️ An appliance that combines mains electricity with 87 litres of water. Please read this. 1. Never move or tilt it with water in the tank. At 19.5 kg empty plus 87 litres of water it weighs over a hundred kilograms full — drain it before moving, and use the wheels rather than lifting. 2. Connect only to a properly earthed socket. Water and mains together make earthing essential, not optional. 3. Switch off and unplug before filling, draining, cleaning or changing pads, and never reach into the fan housing while it is connected. 4. Do not run the pump without water — dry-run protection is a backstop, not a licence. 5. Keep the cord out of standing water and away from the fill point; do not let it lie in the puddle that forms around a cooler being filled. 6. Do not operate it with wet hands or while standing in water. 7. Empty and dry the tank when the cooler is not in use for a few days. Standing water breeds mosquitoes and produces smell — this matters in a dengue-prone city and is the commonest complaint about coolers left idle. 8. Clean the tank and pads regularly through the season, and replace pads when they scale up. 9. Apply the wheel brakes during operation so it cannot drift, and keep it clear of stairs and thresholds. 10. Keep children from climbing on it or putting fingers through the grille, and do not let anyone push objects into the fan. 11. Do not place it where water can reach other electrical equipment or extension boards. 12. Ventilate the room. A desert cooler needs an open window or door to work properly and to prevent the room becoming damp. 13. Do not use it in a closed bathroom or damp enclosed space. 14. Stop using it if the cord or plug is damaged, if water leaks from the body, if the motor sounds abnormal or if it trips your supply — disconnect it and call us.

Warranty as per Godrej terms and conditions — 1 year comprehensive warranty including the fan motor as stated in supplier material. The scope of cover, parts and labour, exclusions, product registration and the service process are subject to brand policy and the final invoice or warranty card. Cooling pads, pumps, castor wheels and louvres are wear or accessory items and may be excluded from cover or covered for a shorter period; cooling pads in particular are a consumable requiring periodic replacement at the owner's cost. Damage arising from misuse, running the pump dry, moving the unit with water in the tank, unsuitable electrical supply or unauthorised servicing is commonly excluded. Hourly water consumption, recommended room size, noise level, presence of an ice chamber, cord length and replacement pad cost and availability are not stated in supplier material and should be confirmed before purchase. Air delivery of 3900 m³/hr, tank capacity, pad thickness, rated power of 150 W, voltage range, dimensions and weight are manufacturer specifications measured under their own test conditions and are not directly comparable between brands. The stated weight of 19.5 kg is the net weight of the empty unit; the filled weight with 87 litres of water is substantially higher. This appliance is an evaporative desert air cooler and is not an air conditioner. Evaporative cooling depends on ambient humidity: cooling performance is greatest in hot dry conditions and reduces significantly as relative humidity rises, including during the monsoon period, when the appliance may add moisture to the room without appreciable cooling. Adequate ventilation, with a window or door left open, is required for effective operation. Cooling performance, temperature reduction, water consumption and runtime depend on ambient temperature, humidity, room size, ceiling height, ventilation, pad condition, water quality and fan speed, and no specific temperature reduction is claimed or guaranteed. Comparisons of power consumption and running cost against air conditioners are general illustrations based on rated power and typical appliance ratings; actual electricity cost depends on the applicable tariff slab, usage hours, supply conditions and the specific appliances compared, and should be calculated against the purchaser's own tariff. Inverter compatibility depends on the capacity and condition of the purchaser's inverter and battery. This product is a household and commercial appliance and not a medical device; no health, respiratory or air-quality outcome is claimed or implied. The appliance combines mains electricity with a large volume of water and must be connected only to a properly earthed socket, must be switched off and unplugged before filling, draining, cleaning or pad replacement, must not be operated with wet hands or while standing in water, and must not be moved or tilted with water in the tank. Standing water must be drained when the appliance is not in regular use to prevent mosquito breeding and odour; tank and pads require regular cleaning. Wheel brakes should be applied during operation. Children must be kept from climbing on the unit or introducing fingers or objects through the grille. Discontinue use and disconnect the appliance if the cord or plug is damaged, if water leaks from the body, if the motor sounds abnormal or if it trips the electrical supply.
