⚡ Where the 2900 watts actually comes from
Mild evening, one room
Everyday winter setting
Full radiator output
PTC fan boost on top
The headline 2900 W is the radiator at full output plus the PTC fan running together. Most of the winter you will use 1000 or 1500 W — and running at 1000 W costs well under half of what 2500 W does, which matters when a heater runs several hours a night for two months.
Oil-filled
warmthslow to start, then steady all evening
An oil-filled radiator works differently from every other heater, and understanding it is what makes people happy with one. Inside the fins is thermal oil, heated by an element and circulating by convection. The oil is never burnt or consumed and never needs topping up — it is simply a heat store. Two consequences follow. First, it is slow: expect fifteen to twenty minutes before the room feels different, because the oil has to come up to temperature first. Second, and this is the payoff, the warmth is deep, even and lasts — the room stays comfortable rather than swinging hot and cold, and the fins go on giving heat for a good while after the thermostat cuts out or you switch off entirely. There is no fan on the radiator itself, so it is genuinely silent, and nothing glows red — which is why an OFR is the type most people choose for a bedroom.
The 400 W PTC fan — the answer to an OFR's one weakness
The slow warm-up is the only real complaint people have about oil-filled radiators, and the PTC fan on this model exists precisely to fix it. PTC stands for positive temperature coefficient: a ceramic element that self-regulates, drawing less power as it gets hotter, so it cannot run away and overheat the way a bare wire element can. Switch it on together with the radiator and you get warm air moving into the room within a minute or two, covering the gap while the oil comes up to temperature. Then switch the fan off and let the radiator hold the room silently for the rest of the evening. That is how to use this heater well: fan on for the first ten minutes, fan off after. You get quick warmth when you walk into a cold room and silence when you want to sleep, which neither type manages on its own.
ISI certification — worth insisting on at this wattage
IS 302-2-30 is the Indian standard covering room heaters, and an ISI mark means the product has been tested against it rather than simply asserted to be safe. On a 2900 W appliance that runs unattended for hours in a bedroom, that testing covers exactly the things that matter: the temperature the casing reaches, insulation and earthing, behaviour of the thermostat and cut-outs, and construction of the cord and terminals. Plenty of heaters sold cheaply in the winter season do not carry it. This model also has overheat protection, which cuts power if the unit gets hotter than it should, and a tip-over tilt switch that shuts it off if it is knocked over. Havells describe the exterior as cool-touch — the outer surfaces stay far cooler than a halogen or blower heater, though the fins still get warm, so treat it as safer rather than cold.
🎯 Suited to
The OFR is the type to choose if you want a room that stays warm rather than a spot that feels warm. For quick heat at a desk or in a bathroom for twenty minutes, a halogen heater costs a quarter as much — ask us and we will show you both.
Set a level and the thermostat cycles the element to hold it, rather than running at full power continuously — which is where the electricity saving comes from.
Wheels tuck away for storage and a pull-out handle makes an 11 kg unit easy to move room to room through the evening.
The cord stows into the body rather than trailing — worth having on a heater that gets moved and put away every spring.
Havells specify oil with thermo-oxidative stability, which resists breaking down into sludge over years of heating cycles. It is sealed in and never needs refilling.

Warranty as per Havells terms and conditions — 2 year manufacturer warranty as stated in supplier material. The scope of cover, coverage of the heating element, PTC fan, thermostat, safety switches, control panel, oil-filled radiator body, cord, plug and accessories, parts and labour, exclusions, product registration and the service process are subject to Havells brand policy and the final invoice or warranty documentation. Damage arising from misuse, covering the appliance, use for drying clothing, operation near combustible materials, connection to an inadequate or unearthed electrical supply or through unsuitable extension boards, operation while not upright, liquid ingress or unauthorised servicing is commonly excluded. Required socket rating is not stated in supplier material; at a total rated output of 2900 W on a 230 V supply the current draw is approximately 12.6 A, which exceeds the rating of standard 6A domestic sockets, and a 16A socket on an adequately rated and properly earthed circuit should be confirmed as available before purchase. Recommended room size, thermostat temperature range and whether the control sets an absolute temperature or a relative level, timer, remote control, PTC fan noise level, cord length and country of origin are not stated in supplier material and should be confirmed before purchase. Rated outputs of 2900 W total, 2500 W radiator and 400 W PTC fan, the three heat settings, ISI certification to IS 302-2-30, dimensions and weight are manufacturer specifications; actual warm-up time, perceived warmth, area heated, heat retention after switch-off and running cost vary with room size, ceiling height, insulation, draughts, outdoor temperature, occupancy, selected setting, thermostat position, duration of use, supply voltage and the applicable electricity tariff slab. Statements about relative running cost between settings describe the proportional difference in rated power draw and are not a guarantee of any particular bill. ISI certification and the standard reference are as stated in supplier material and should be verified on the product marking. Descriptions of the exterior as cool-touch and of operation as silent are the manufacturer's own product descriptions: the radiator fins become warm in use, and the PTC fan produces noise when running even though the radiator alone does not. Explanations of oil-filled radiator operation, PTC element behaviour and heater type comparisons provided here are general information to aid understanding and are not manufacturer specifications. This product is a household appliance and not a medical device; no health, respiratory, humidity or air-quality outcome is claimed or implied, and heating any room reduces its relative humidity regardless of heater type. The appliance must be kept upright at all times, must never be covered or used to dry clothing, must be kept clear of curtains, bedding, upholstery, paper and furniture with free air circulation on all sides, must be placed level on a firm floor, and must be connected to a properly earthed socket of adequate rating and not through light-duty extension boards, multi-way adaptors or external timers or automatic switching devices. The oil circuit is sealed and must never be opened, drained, refilled or repaired; the appliance must be taken out of service if any fin is damaged or leaking. It must not be used in bathrooms, near water or with wet hands. It must not be left operating unattended in rooms with young children, and must be unplugged and allowed to cool before being moved, cleaned or stored. Discontinue use and seek service if the cord or plug is damaged, if the appliance trips the electrical supply, if burning odour or oil leakage is observed, or if the tip-over switch fails to cut power when the appliance is tilted.
