185 Watts, 70 Litres.
It Keeps Going When the Power Doesn't.
A 70 litre desert cooler for rooms that need long hours of airflow at very little running cost · around 185 watts — roughly two ceiling fans — so a home inverter will carry it through a Delhi power cut when an air conditioner simply stops · a 70 litre tank for a full day between refills · a double ball bearing motor built for months of continuous running · honeycomb pads with Bacteria Shield treatment · thermal overload protection · a bed-height fan so air reaches you lying down · 360° castors with front brakes · 16.1 kg · made in India · 1 year comprehensive warranty
wattsthe number that matters in a power cut
This is the specification worth understanding, because it changes what the cooler is for. A 1.5 ton air conditioner draws well over a kilowatt and no domestic inverter will carry it. At around 185 watts this cooler sits comfortably within the capacity of an ordinary home inverter — about the draw of two ceiling fans. So when the power goes at three in the afternoon in June, the cooler keeps running while the AC sits dead. That is not a small thing in Delhi NCR, and it is the honest reason many households keep a cooler even after installing air conditioning. Over a full summer of daily use the running cost is a fraction of an AC's. One caution: inverter capacity, battery condition and whatever else is already connected all matter. Tell us your inverter rating and what else runs on it, and we will tell you honestly whether it will cope.
Double ball bearing motor — why it matters on a cooler specifically
Cheaper coolers use bush bearings, which are simply a sleeve the shaft turns inside. They work, but they wear, and as they wear the motor gets louder and less efficient — which is why an old cooler often sounds rougher every summer until one year it does not start. Ball bearings at both ends of the shaft carry the load on rolling elements instead, so there is far less friction and far less wear. An air cooler is a hard-worked appliance: ten or twelve hours a day, three months at a stretch, in 45°C heat, in a damp environment. That is exactly the duty cycle where bearing type decides the outcome. The practical difference over time is quieter running, less vibration, and a motor still turning smoothly several summers later rather than one that needs rewinding. It is worth asking about on any cooler you compare.
Keeping it clean — and what the pad treatment does and doesn't do
The honeycomb pads carry a Bacteria Shield treatment, which Havells describe as reducing bacteria on the pad surface. It addresses the genuine weakness of every evaporative cooler: the pads stay wet, and warm wet material grows mould, which is why a neglected cooler smells musty by its second season. But a coating is not a substitute for cleaning, and it does not make the cooler an air purifier — it treats the pads, not the air in the room. Three habits keep it fresh. Drain the tank whenever the cooler will stand unused for more than a couple of days. Rinse the pads and tank periodically through the season, using clean water rather than stored or hard water where you can. And run the fan dry for a few minutes before putting it away at the end of summer, so nothing is stored damp. Do that and it will smell of nothing at all next April.

Two 70 litre options at similar money. This one is the lighter, simpler unit; the KoolGrande adds an ice chamber, three-sided pads and 4-way motorised deflection for ₹640 more. Come in and we will show you both side by side — for a shop floor, look at the 100 litre instead.
🎯 Suited to
121 cm tall and 16.1 kg, so it needs a proper corner rather than a gap beside furniture — but the castors mean one person can reposition it easily once empty. Tell us your room size and we will tell you whether 70 litres is the right choice.
Cuts power automatically if the motor overheats — a blocked intake or stalled fan will not run on until something is damaged.
The fan sits higher in the body, so air reaches you lying down instead of travelling along the floor beneath the bed.
Rolls between rooms and locks in place. Worth having on a 121 cm unit so it does not drift when nudged.
Mechanical knob control rather than a touch panel — simpler to use and one less thing to fail on a wet-running appliance.

Warranty as per Havells terms and conditions — 1 year comprehensive manufacturer warranty as stated in supplier material. The scope of cover, coverage of the motor, pump, cooling pads, body, electrical components and castor wheels, parts and labour, exclusions, product registration and the service process are subject to Havells brand policy and the final invoice or warranty documentation. Cooling pads and the water pump are consumable or wear items on evaporative coolers and their warranty treatment should be confirmed before purchase. Damage arising from running the pump without adequate water, use of dirty or stagnant water, blocking the air intake or outlet, tilting the unit while filled, water ingress to electrical components, unsuitable or unearthed electrical supply or unauthorised servicing is commonly excluded. An air delivery figure of 350 CFM appears in supplier material for this model; that figure is inconsistent with the air delivery ratings published by the same manufacturer for comparable and smaller desert coolers, is being verified with the manufacturer, and should not be relied upon when selecting this product. The confirmed air delivery figure should be obtained before purchase. Recommended room size, number of fan speeds, number of cooling pad sides, presence of an ice chamber or water level indicator, air deflection and auto swing, fan size, motor speed, noise level and rated voltage are not stated in supplier material and should be confirmed before purchase. Tank capacity, power consumption of approximately 185 W, dimensions and weight are manufacturer specifications determined under their own test conditions; actual cooling performance, runtime per tank and water consumption vary substantially with ambient temperature, relative humidity, ventilation and cross-airflow, room size and ceiling height, occupancy, water level and quality, pad and pump condition, selected speed, placement and supply voltage. Comparisons with other models in the range are based on the figures stated by the manufacturer for each model and, where a figure is not published or is under verification, no comparison is implied. This product is an evaporative air cooler and not an air conditioner: it cools by evaporating water into the air stream and therefore increases the humidity of the space, its effectiveness reduces significantly as ambient humidity rises, and it requires continuous ventilation with an open window or door to function correctly. No specific temperature reduction is claimed or guaranteed. Inverter compatibility depends on the capacity and condition of the purchaser's inverter and battery and on the total load connected. Running cost depends on the applicable electricity tariff and usage. The Bacteria Shield description of the cooling pad treatment is the manufacturer's own product description and relates to treatment of the cooling pads; this product is a household appliance and not a medical device or an air purifier, no antibacterial, antimicrobial, air-purification, allergen-removal, dust-reduction or health outcome is claimed or implied by Mahajan Electronics, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Regular draining and cleaning remain necessary regardless of any pad treatment. Standing water must not be left in the tank when the appliance is unused, both for hygiene and because stagnant water can support mosquito breeding. The appliance must be connected to a properly earthed supply, switched off and disconnected before filling, draining, cleaning or moving, placed level on a firm floor with the brakes applied, moved only when empty, and must not be used outdoors in rain, tilted while filled or exposed to splashing. Electrical components, cord and controls must be kept dry. Fingers and objects must be kept clear of the fan grille and children must not be permitted to climb on the appliance or play with the water. Additives must not be introduced into the water tank unless expressly permitted by the manufacturer. Discontinue use and seek service if the appliance trips the electrical supply, if water is observed near electrical components, if the motor becomes unusually noisy or if burning odour is detected.
