This is the specification worth reading closely, because the warranty is divided exactly along the lines on which a geyser actually fails. Seven years on the tank. Four years on the heating element. Two years on the body and electrical components. Those are not arbitrary numbers. The tank and the element are the two parts that hard water destroys, and they are also the two that are expensive to replace — a perforated tank means a new geyser altogether. A manufacturer putting seven years behind a tank is making a claim about its coating that it has to honour. It is worth comparing this against anything else you are considering, because plenty of geysers advertise a single headline warranty figure that turns out to cover only the body. Ask for the split in writing rather than one number — it is on the invoice and warranty card, and we will go through it with you.
35 litres — a full-bathroom geyser, not a washbasin one
Thirty-five litres is a genuine family-bathroom size, and getting the capacity right is the most consequential decision on a geyser. At this size you can fill a bucket for a bath, or run a shower for a reasonable spell, and there is stored hot water left for the next person without waiting through a full reheat. That is the practical difference between a 35 litre and the 5 or 10 litre units people buy to save money and then regret on winter mornings. It is also a physically substantial appliance at 48 × 47 × 67 cm, and heavy once filled — so it needs a solid wall and proper clearance, which is worth checking before delivery day rather than on it. If it is going above a kitchen sink or a single washbasin rather than a main bathroom, this is more geyser than the job needs — a smaller unit costs less to buy and less to run, and we will say so.
25–75°C adjustable — the setting that decides your bill and the tank's life
Most people set a geyser to maximum and leave it there, which works against them on three counts. Water stored hotter loses more heat to the room while it sits, so a 5-star tank held at 75°C gives away much of what the rating earns you. It also scales faster: mineral deposition from hard water accelerates sharply at higher temperatures, and scale on the element is what makes an old geyser slow and eventually kills it. And at 75°C you end up mixing in a large amount of cold at the tap anyway, which means you paid to heat water you never used at that temperature. Set it to a moderate level that gives comfortable water with little mixing. You will use less electricity, scale the element more slowly, and reduce the risk of scalding — which matters in a house with children or elderly parents.
