Screen size is usually discussed in the abstract, so it is worth being concrete about what a hundred inches actually is. The diagonal is 254 cm, which makes the picture roughly 2.2 metres wide and 1.25 metres tall — wider than most sofas. The viewing distance that suits it is around 10 to 12 feet: at that range the screen fills a large part of your field of view, which is the whole point, and 4K resolution means you still cannot see individual pixels. Sit closer than about 8 feet and you will be turning your head to follow the action; sit much further than 14 feet and you have paid for size you are not using. The honest test before buying is simple: measure the wall, then measure how far back your seating actually is. 256 dimming zones — the specification that separates good QLED from ordinary LCD
Every LCD television needs a backlight, and how that backlight is controlled is what decides picture quality more than resolution does. A basic LCD lights the whole panel evenly, so a night scene comes out grey rather than black, because light leaks through even where the image should be dark. Local dimming divides the backlight into independently controlled zones: where the picture is dark, that zone dims; where it is bright, that zone stays bright. 256 zones is a serious number at this size, and it is what gives you real black depth in dark scenes alongside genuinely bright highlights in the same frame. Combined with Quantum Dot — a nanocrystal layer that widens the colour range and lifts peak brightness — this is why a good QLED looks so different from a budget 4K panel at the same resolution. 144 Hz with FreeSync, VRR and ALLM — a 100-inch gaming display
Four HDMI 2.1 ports, with 144 Hz gaming, variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode available on the gaming inputs. Each of those does something specific. 144 Hz means the panel can display up to 144 frames a second in game mode, so fast motion stays sharp instead of smearing. VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium sync the screen's refresh to whatever your console or PC is actually producing, which eliminates the horizontal tearing you see when the two fall out of step. ALLM switches the television into its lowest-lag mode automatically the moment it detects a console, so nobody has to remember to change a setting. For a PS5, Xbox Series X or a gaming PC, this is the full modern feature set rather than a partial implementation. On a hundred-inch screen it is a genuinely different experience from a monitor.
