Almost every air purifier filter works by trapping — the pollutant is captured and held inside the media until you throw the filter away. Cold Catalyst does something different: it absorbs and then decomposes formaldehyde, breaking the molecule down rather than storing it. That matters because a filter that only holds gases eventually saturates and can release them back into the room as it warms. Alongside formaldehyde it targets benzene, ammonia and TVOCs — precisely the chemical pollutants that a standard HEPA filter cannot trap at all, because HEPA catches particles and these are gases.
Activated carbon — the layer that deals with what you can smell
Cold Catalyst handles the chemistry you can't detect; the carbon layer handles what you can. High-grade granular activated carbon physically absorbs smoke and cooking odours, pet smells, toxic fumes and gases, and VOCs — the things that make a room feel stale even when the dust has been cleared.
