Every RO membrane produces a reject stream — the question is where it goes. On an ordinary home RO it goes straight down the drain, and in a Delhi summer, with supply restrictions and the tanker still two days away, that is water the household could have used. KENT's Zero Water Wastage system routes the reject stream to a separate outlet instead of the drain, so it goes into a bucket or a line you can actually use — floor mopping, the balcony plants, the car, the flush. The drinking water is purified through five stages and the rest of the water goes on doing a job. In a city that counts its litres every May, that changes the arithmetic of running an RO at home.
UF + TDS Control — the two stages that make RO water worth drinking
An RO membrane is superb at what it does and blind to everything else. The Grand Plus adds two stages around it. Ultra Filtration runs a hollow-fibre membrane with 0.01–0.1 micron pores — fine enough to trap the colloidal particles, fine clay and organic macro-molecules that slip past a sediment pre-filter yet never register as dissolved TDS. That is what gives the water its clarity. Then the TDS Control system — a blending valve — sends a calculated share of the input through the UF membrane rather than the RO membrane, so that mineral-bearing water is blended back into the RO permeate. Calcium and magnesium stay in the glass, the heavy metals, fluoride, arsenic and pesticides stay out, and the water tastes like water instead of tasting like nothing at all.
In-Tank UV LED — the stored water stays as clean as the purified water
A conventional UV stage treats water on its way to the tank. The Grand Plus puts a UV LED inside the 9-litre storage tank itself, keeping the stored water and the tank's interior surfaces under continuous UV exposure. A UV LED suits this job far better than a lamp: it reaches full intensity instantly rather than needing a 30–60 second warm-up, runs far cooler — which matters for a component sitting inside a water tank — and is rated for 50,000+ hours against the 8,000–12,000 hours of a traditional UV lamp. The practical result shows up on a long weekend away: water that has been standing in the tank for two or three days is still sterile when you come back and pour the first glass.

The three years of free scheduled service is the part that pays off quietly. An RO membrane wants replacing at roughly one-to-two-year intervals depending on input TDS, pre-filters every three to six months, the UV component annually. With the service included, a KENT technician comes to the flat, checks filter status, replaces what is due and verifies performance — so the purifier is still purifying at full strength in year three, not just running.
The RO concentrate is collected for household use — mopping, garden watering, car washing, flushing — instead of being discharged. The calcium and magnesium concentrated in it are genuinely useful on a balcony garden, and in a Delhi NCR summer of supply restrictions every recovered litre counts.
