Flame
freeno cylinder, no leak
The case for induction isn't really speed β it's what isn't there. No open flame near loose clothing or a dupatta. No cylinder in the kitchen. No gas leakage risk, which is the one household hazard people genuinely worry about with an elderly parent or young children around. And because induction heats the vessel directly rather than the air around it, a Delhi summer kitchen stays noticeably more bearable than standing over a gas flame. Add a flat glass surface with no burner grates or trivets to scrub, and the daily experience is simply cleaner β which is why most people who add one end up using it far more than they expected.
4 KV surge protection β the spec that decides whether it survives
An induction cooktop is electronics, and electronics are what voltage spikes kill. A surge when power returns after a cut, or when a heavy motor starts on the same line, is the most common way a cheap induction plate dies β usually within a year or two, and usually just outside warranty. 4 KV protection means it's built to absorb spikes up to 4000 volts without damage. Alongside it, intelligent power and temperature control adjusts heat automatically and prevents overheating, and the unit is BIS approved β independent certification rather than a self-declared claim on an appliance that runs at 1900 watts.
Before you buy: check your cookware and your socket
Two things nobody mentions, and both cause most induction disappointment. First, induction only works with magnetic cookware. Steel and iron work β your existing kadhai, tawa and steel pressure cooker most likely will. Pure aluminium, brass, copper and ceramic will not, whatever the cooktop costs. The test: if a fridge magnet sticks firmly to the base, it works, and the base must be flat. Second, this model has a 15 A plug β it needs a proper 15 A socket, not a standard 5 A point or a light-duty extension board. Check you have one where you plan to use it, or ask us and we'll advise.
β¨ Why induction
No Open Flame
Safer with children in the kitchen
Direct Heating
Heats the vessel, not the room
Flat Glass Top
No grates, wipes clean
Portable
Move it, store it, take it
π The seven presets
Each preset holds the power profile that dish actually needs β a dosa tawa wants steady moderate heat, milk wants gentle heat that won't catch, a pressure cooker wants full power then a drop. Press one button rather than guessing at a wattage dial.
ποΈ Controls and build
The timer is more useful than it sounds β set it for rice or a pressure cooker and the cooktop switches off on its own rather than relying on you remembering.
A more generous footprint than compact plates, giving a bigger kadhai or pressure cooker a stable, properly supported base.
Where a gas connection isn't allowed or practical, a plug-in cooktop is often the only option β and this one has real Indian presets.
Keep it in a cupboard and bring it out when you're cooking for guests β the cheapest way to add a burner without touching the gas line.
